Boston, Massachusetts (Oct. 4, 2017) -- Manos: The Hands of Fate may be considered one of the worst movies ever made, but its legacy lives on, and now "Debbie" is all grown up... and hunting monsters.
Manos: The Debbie Chronicles is a new comic book project from Pulsar Entertainment, LLC, in partnership with Jackey Raye Neyman Jones, who played "Debbie" in the original 1966 film. This dark reimagining focuses on what happened to that little girl after she escaped from the evil clutches of "The Master" (who was played, ironically, by none other than Jackey's dad, Tom Neyman).
"The vibe will be Supernatural meets Sarah Connor with a little dash of Army of Darkness," said EVP of Multimedia Development for Pulsar, Willow Polson, who will manage the project and pen the first issue's script. "The challenge is to hit the right blend of gritty drama and dark humor because of the obviously campy source material. Manos: The Debbie Chronicles takes off in a whole new direction, and I'm sure our guest writers and artists will do an amazing job."
Each story will feature a different creative team for one or two issues, with fresh takes on Debbie's monster-hunting career as the issues unfold. Debbie is joined by other hunters, experts, and lots of surprises along the way.
"We're truly excited to be teaming up with Jackey on this project," said J. Allen, Co-Founder of Pulsar. "Fans will be able to engage with this cult classic with new and exciting storylines. This will be an exhilarating series in the vein of Buffy the Vampire Slayer."
Jones is eager to get started, too. "I'm very excited to work with such a talented group of people in exploring what is for me, a new direction in art and creativity. I can't wait to see all the adventures I will have."
