Pulsar Entertainment Official Contest Rules

Pulsar Entertainment, LLC is the sponsor of the Pulsar Entertainment Contest (the “Contest”). Its website is available at (the “Site”). These official rules (the “Rules”) are an agreement between Pulsar Entertainment, LLC and the persons who compete in the Contest (“Entrant(s)” or “you”). Participation in the Contest constitutes Entrant’s legal and binding agreement to and acceptance of these Rules and the decisions of the judges and Sponsor, which are final and binding. Participation in the Contest and chance of winning are contingent upon full compliance with all the terms in these Rules.

Contest Entry Period. Submissions to the Contest (each an “Entry” and collectively the “Entries”) will be accepted beginning on Sept 30, 2017 at 8am Eastern Daylight Time until Oct 23, 2017, 11:59 p.m. Pacific DateTime (the “Entry Period”).

Eligibility. The Contest is open to individuals who are at least 18 years of age at the time of submission of Entry. All entries from outside of the USA or Canada must be from sovereign states non-embargoed by the United States of America and individuals must not be on the USA OFAC list. Comics from these global locations will be held to the same entry rules and round by round guidelines as the USA & Canada entries.  Void where prohibited by law. Employees, owners, agents, or representatives of the Sponsor or any other party associated with the development, administration, or judging of the Contest, or any member of their immediate family or household (whether related or not) are not eligible to participate. Except where prohibited, the potential winners may be required to complete and return any applicable documents sent by the Sponsor related to the Contest (“potential winner’s paperwork”), which may include an affidavit of his or her eligibility, any applicable tax forms, and a liability/publicity release. If potential winners are not of the age of majority per applicable state laws, the Sponsor may require the execution of potential winner’s paperwork by the potential winners’ parent or guardian. Potential winner’s paperwork must be accurately and fully completed, signed by all applicable parties, returned, and received by Sponsor within three (3) days of being notified. If an Entrant fails to complete and return the winner’s paperwork within the required time period, an alternate Entrant with the next highest score pursuant to the winner selection rules, below, may be selected in his or her place.

Entry Method. To submit an Entry, go to the Site ( and create a user profile (which requires you to agree to our Terms of Use, then follow the directions on the Contest page to begin the Contest Entry submission process. There is no fee to create a user profile or to participate in this Contest. All Entries must be must be an original comic concept. Entries must be uploaded and received before the expiration of the Entry Period to be valid. An Entrant may enter more than one Entry, so long as all Entries are valid under these Rules. Sponsor is not responsible for Entries made but not received and/or accepted, or Entries that are lost, late, misdirected, illegible, or incomplete, for any reason, including without limitation by reason of hardware, software, browser, or network failure, malfunction, congestion, or incompatibility at the Sponsor’s website, and such Entries are void. In the event of a dispute, Entries will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the e-mail address connected to the account at the time of submission. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person for tampering with or attempting to tamper with the entry, voting or judging process, the operation of the Sponsor’s website, or otherwise in violation of these Rules. Use of bots or other automated processes or programs to submit an Entry, Vote, or otherwise participate in the Contest is prohibited and may result in disqualification.


Entries Must Be Original and Previously Unpublished. To be valid, an Entry must be the original work of the Entrant, it must not be copied from others, in whole or in part, and it must not violate the rights of any other person unless said person is entering with Entrant. The Entry must not be, or have been, published anywhere else (including without limitation any online or print publication) in order to be valid. Entries must not contain personally identifiable information or likenesses of any third party. Entries must not contain, incorporate or otherwise use any content, material or element that is owed by any third party, or that is defamatory, disparaging, libelous or promotes hatred or harm against any person or group of persons, or that is otherwise inappropriate pursuant to the Terms of Use.


Supporters and Voting System. The opening round of the Contest, below, will be open to voting through the Site’s “Support” feature. Supporters cast votes (“Votes”) by clicking the “Support” button associated with the comic Entry they wish to support. Supporters may be any member of the general public who registers an account through the Sponsor’s website,, and complies with the eligibility restrictions in our Terms of Use (“Supporters”). Supporters may submit Votes for multiple Entries, but may submit only one (1) Vote per Entry. Votes received from Sept 30, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time until Oct 23, 2017 at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (the “Voting Period”) will be counted toward this Contest.


Winner Section. Winners will be selected according to the following winner selection process.


Opening Round


All Entries made prior by 11:59pm EST on Oct 23, 2017 will automatically qualify for the Finals if they have received 20 Valid Votes. Valid Votes made during the Voting Period, above, will be counted and any Entries receiving 20 valid Votes or more during the Voting Period will qualify for the semifinals. If after the Voting Period there are not at least 20 Entries that have received 20 valid Votes or more, then the up to 20 Entries with the most valid Votes (plus any ties for 50th place) during the Voting Period will advance to the semifinals.




Entries that reach the Final round of the Contest will be announced publicly through the Sponsor’s Site on Oct 23, 2017. Valid Entries in the finals will be judged by the Pulsar Entertainment team on a scale of one (1) through ten (10), with ten (10) being the highest score, in each of the following weighted categories adding up to 100% of available credits:

Creativity (30% of available credits)

Binge-ability (40% of available credits)

Enjoyment (20% of available credits)

Creator Personality (10% of available credits)


Each judge will submit his or her scoring of the Entries to the team for tabulation. The entry with score closest to 100% of available credits will win the contest.


The Pulsar Entertainment team which will be judging the finals is composed of at least ten (5) Pulsar Entertainment staff comprised of published writers and illustrators, including some who have released both films and comics, and others who are accomplished in other major comics competitions.


Prize Description. The prizes (including each prize’s approximate retail value (“ARV”)) available to be won are as follows:

  • Comic Creation and Publishing from Pulsar (ARV $100)


No cash or other substitution may be made, except by Sponsor, which reserves the right to substitute a prize with another prize of equal or greater value if the prize is not available for any reason, as determined in the sole discretion of Sponsor. The winners are solely responsible for any and all taxes (including without limitation federal, state, and local taxes) associated with receipt or use of a prize and the reporting consequences thereof, and any other costs, fees and expenses not explicitly stated herein.


Indemnity. You agree to release, indemnify and hold harmless the Sponsor and its respective employees, owners, managers, agents and representatives, and any judges and third parties associated with this Contest (“Sponsoring Parties”), from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, losses, costs, damages, liabilities, judgments, settlements and expenses (including without limitation reasonable attorney’s fees) of any kind arising, in whole or in part, directly or indirectly, from the Contest, participation in the contest, or any prize in the Contest, including without limitation any claims of infringement. Except to the extent prohibited by law, Sponsor excludes from these Rules all conditions, warranties, and terms implied by statute, general law, or custom.


Ownership and Licensing of Entries. Submitted Entries will be considered Creator Concept "content" pursuant to the Terms of Use and Creator License Agreement. Submission of an Entry constitutes Entrant’s granting of a non-exclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicenseable and transferable license to Pulsar Entertainment to publish your Creator Cocept/Entry while it is published and displayed on the Sponsor’s website and any of its apps, and/or any successors thereto, which license includes the right of Sponsor to use, reproduce, distribute, prepare derivative works of, display, and perform the Creator Concept/Entry in connection with the Site and any app, and Sponsor’s (and its successors' and affiliates') business, including without limitation for promoting and redistributing part or all of its services (and derivative works thereof) in any media formats and through any media channels. Entrants also hereby grant each user of the Sponsor’s services a non-exclusive license to access your Creator Concept/Entry through the Sponsor’s website and any app, and to use, reproduce, distribute, display and perform such Creator Concept/Entry as permitted through the functionality of the website and any app, and under the Sponsor’s Terms of Use. Should you wish for your Creator Concept/Entry to be removed from display on the Site and/or any related media, it must be eligible for removal according to the terms regarding the removal of Creator Comics under the section entitled “Removal of Creator Comics; Royalties in Certain Situations” in the Creator License Agreement. While most Creator Comics/Entries are eligible for removal within seven (7) days, top performers may need to comply with royalty provisions of the Creator License Agreement. We ask that you review this section carefully before posting any Entry through our services.


Miscellaneous. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, terminate, suspend, or modify the Contest if it is not capable of completion as planned, including without limitation for reasons of computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, failure of Entrants or Voters to comply with these Rules or the Terms of Use, force majeure, Voter fraud, or technical failures of any kind. Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any Entrant or invalidate any Entry, in Sponsor’s sole discretion, if it finds tampering with the entry process, a violation of these Rules, or other inappropriate or disruptive behavior. An attempt by any person to undermine the operation of the Content, or a violation of these Rules or the Terms of Use, may be a violation of law, for which Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages against such a person to the fullest extent allowed by law. A failure of Sponsor to enforce any term of these Rules shall not constitute a waiver of its right to enforce that term, or any other term of these Rules. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute celebrity judges or to proceed without the full number of celebrity judges. All disputes arising or connected with the Contest shall be governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, without regard for choice of law provisions, and will be resolved individually, without resort to class action exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. As permitted by law, in no event shall the Sponsoring Parties be liable to anyone for any indirect, punitive, special, exemplary, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any damages to your computer, telecommunication equipment (including without limitation smart phones or tablets), or other property and/or for loss of data, content, images, revenue, profits, use or other economic advantage, arising out of, or in any way connected with this Contest or these Rules. To the extent permitted by law, in no event shall the aggregate liability of any Sponsoring Parties exceed the out-of-pocket costs of entering and participating in the Contest, and in no event shall Sponsoring Parties be liable for attorney’s fees.


Collection of Information and Privacy Policy. Sponsor may collect information from you in relation to your participation in the Contest.  This information may contain personally identifiable information, such as the information you submit in connection with your registration of a Pulsar Entertainment account. For more information about what types of information we collect and how it is used, please read our Privacy Policy. By participating in this Contest, you agree to the terms of the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with the terms of the Privacy Policy, you must not participate in this Contest.
